Your Embroidered Logo: My Journey Part 3

What's next in my journey to become a custom embroidered polo shirt? I've been embroidered and now I'm hung on a hanger. Later that day my backing is trimmed and the front of my design is checked. Then I'm steamed to remove any wrinkles and later I'm folded and added to a pile of size medium red polos that look just like me. Other embroidered polos are stacked into piles of S, L, XL and 2X shirts and then everyone is counted. We are packed into a box and the box is prepared for shipping. My box is picked up by a guy dressed in brown and we're off! Soon we'll arrive at our destination!

Your Embroidered Logo: Order Tips

Garment Colors?  When choosing garment colors consider how well your logo will contrast against the shirt colors. Colors that are close won't contrast well.  For example, a logo embroidered in black thread will hardly be seen when embroidered on a navy colored shirt.  But, it will be easier to see against a light royal shirt and will contrast nicely against white, yellow, orange, light blue or even red. What if you have a multi-colored logo? Make sure your shirt color contrasts well with your business name.

Long Sleeves?  Think your embroidered long sleeve polo shirts are only for winter wear? Long sleeve polos can also keep employees comfortable in cooler, air-conditioned environments during the summer time.

Your Embroidered Logo : "Birth" of an Embroidered Polo - Part 2

I and my fellow polos have arrived at our embroidery shop! We're sorted by style, size and color and counted. Then we're placed near an embroidery machine and each of us is "hooped". I wait for my "turn".  Its time! My hoop is placed on an embroidery machine and the start button is pushed. An embroidery needle stitches my fabric and minutes later - I have a business logo embroidered across from my left sleeve!

Your Embroidered Logo: My Journey...

I exist!  I'm a size M red polo shirt with a pocket.  I was born six months ago in a clothing factory. Then I was packed in a box with 35 other identical shirts and we traveled to a warehouse where we were placed on a shelf. Occasionally a person will come by and grab some of us but I'm still waiting...

Then - it happened!  I'm pulled by a worker fulfilling an order for an embroiderer. I'm packed in a box with lots of other shirts in different styles, colors and sizes and we're shipped to our embroiderer. Soon I'll be a custom embroidered pocket polo shirt!

Your Embroidered Logo: Special Effects

Using Photoshop to develop your new business logo? Love all the special effects you can try? Adding shadowing, gradients and different textures can make your logo look unique.  Give your business name a rainbow-like color gradation and it will look really cool and standout. Right?

Not necessarily. While a large-sized version of your "gradient" logo may look sharp in print, is that the only format you’ll use for your logo? Can your logo be successfully modified for smaller mediums where the color gradient must be simplified into one color? If so, will a simplified version look like a well-designed logo?

Using special effects can give your logo a modern appearance but BEWARE. Adding special effects usually means adding more detail. When this type of logo is simplified to work for smaller mediums it may not work well. If your logo doesn't work when scaled to a smaller size then it doesn't have a strong design and its time to develop a new logo.

Your Embroidered Logo: Decorated T's?

Need decorated T’s? Have a logo with lots colors? T-shirts can be embroidered but the design can’t be too big or stitch intensive because T-shirt fabric is too light to support lots of stitches. T’s can be screen printed but if the quantity is small it may be hard to find a printer who will print just a few shirts because of the amount of set-up time involved.

If there are a few colors in the design then it’s usually better to have T's direct garment printed. The cost will be more per shirt but the look is almost identical to screen printing and there won’t be any screen charges which can be costly for a multi-color design.
